Supporting our College Students
The Delegate Ron Watson Scholarship:

To date we have awarded over $25,000 in scholarships to students attending a Maryland College, University, or Trade School.

I am proud to continue the tradition of supporting the higher-education of our students.  For School Year 2020-2021, I have extended the application deadline until May 30th.  For more information, CLICK HERE.

Other Highlights:

  • This session was also pleased to support HB1260 - Historically Black Colleges and Universities - Funding.  This bill resolves a 14 year legal dispute based on disparities suffered by state's HBCU's as a result program discrimination.

  • Also, after a lot of "horse trading", we were able to pass a bill through the house which allows the City of Bowie to have ownership of the Bowie Race Track.

  • Finally, this session was abbreviated because of the COVID-19 outbreak.  I will continue to support the bills mentioned during the next legislative session.

RON'S MESSAGE

I continue to remain humbled by the opportunity to serve the residents of the 23rd District.

Our unique and diverse district continues to remain strong and vibrant and attract residents from all over the state. Our district is home to the County seat of government (Town of Upper Marlboro), and the largest municipality in the County, and third in the state (City of Bowie).  I am also proud that we have Maryland's oldest HBCU, Bowie State University in our district.

COVID-19 may have slowed us down, but we will continue to rise and together we will move this great district of our forward!

Yours in Service,
